The Russian band Countrybandists is sorry to announce of the death of their mandolin-player, Nikolay Glazunov, on July 18th 2004, caused by intracranial haematoma. On, September,11, he would be 37 years old. He left a wife and a seven-year-old daughter. He had started playing with Countrybandists 15 years ago on a double-bass. A year later he brought to the band his friend Vladimir Ostrenok, who was then a schoolboy, and gave to him the bass, while himself began to learn to play the mandolin and achieved quite a big success. He was a gifted musician and an amusing entertainer. He loved life and lived cheerfully. The Country Bandists played the EWOB - European World Of Bluegrass Festival several times. They were awarded in 2001 as the 2nd European Bluegrass Band of the Year. On September 11th, a memorial evening will be held in one of Smolensk venues. His friends, relatives, fellow-musicians and all those who remember him, will take part in it.
